A series of U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran has killed several of the country’s most senior political and military figures, according to Reuters.

Among those reported killed is Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who was said to have died in an airstrike on his compound on February 28.

Reuters reports that the strikes targeted the core of Iran’s leadership structure, including key figures from its military and security apparatus.

The reported deaths mark a major escalation in the regional conflict, raising concerns over wider instability across the Middle East, with potential impacts on global energy markets and international shipping routes.
