New developments have emerged in the investigation into the death of Mango founder Isak Andic, who died in Spain in 2024.

Born in Istanbul in 1953, Andic moved to Catalonia, Spain with his family at a young age and later founded the fashion giant Mango in 1984, turning it into one of the world’s largest clothing brands.

Isak Andic died in December 2024 after falling nearly 100 meters during a hiking trip near the Montserrat Mountains outside Barcelona. The incident was initially treated as an accident.

However, Spanish authorities reopened the case after new evidence reportedly emerged during the investigation. Proceedings were launched against his son, Jonathan Andic, who was reportedly the only person with him at the time of the incident.

According to Spanish media reports, Jonathan Andic was detained and later brought before a court. The court set bail at €1 million. After the payment was made, he was released under judicial supervision.

The court also imposed a travel ban on Jonathan Andic and confiscated his passport. He is additionally required to report regularly to authorities.

Prosecutors claim there were inconsistencies in Jonathan Andic’s statements during the investigation. Reports in the case file also allege long-standing disputes between father and son regarding inheritance and company management.

Jonathan Andic’s lawyers denied all allegations and stated that their client is innocent.

The investigation, which has drawn major public attention in Spain, is ongoing.
